Re: Mercury transit

I too am hoping for clear skies throughout as I've booked the day off. I still got my baadar solar filter that I bought for the solar eclipse last year so everything's good to go. :)

If the clouds are naughty.. there's always a live webcast to save the day. Lets hope we don't need it!

Should we get clouded out for the eclipse....

Should getting up at 1 in the morning be all in vain in the early hours of Monday.... there's always the trusty webcast to save the night. http://www.solareclipse2015.org.uk/live-webcast/ This is the same site that hosted the total solar eclipse coverage in March. It's now been revamped for this wee...

Got a comet image you want to share?

A new website was launched in the spring and we're looking for anybody who would like to show off their comet images in our gallery section. As you will see, there's not too many on there yet! Images can be uploaded on the page url below. It would be great to have some SPA members efforts. There's n...

Re: Solar eclipse March 20th

Lovely shots Brian. I must have been clouded out for that one because I've always wanted to get a sunrise eclipse shot! The sun gets a wriggle on climbing up too early for that kind of shot next month :( . Worth the trade off for an 85% eclipse tho 8)

Solar eclipse March 20th

Hi all I'm trying to get an idea of how much media interest the upcoming Total Solar Eclipse (Partial in the UK) is likely to get in the coming weeks. Has anyone here heard of any local events happening on 20th March in line with the eclipse? Is anyone here organising an event? Outside of the astron...

Re: Jupiter Coming on Heat

I've not got too much viewing time on the big one this year. Mostly due to either the weather, my shameful laziness during those freezing windy evenings or just other commitments! It may be worth waiting until the planet is near/past the meridian late at night. That way its higher up in the sky. Thi...

Hi All If you haven't heard already, Comet Siding Spring will fly past Mars today at 18:28 GMT(19:28 BST) . It's going to be a very difficult target to view this historic event with Mars being very low in the South West by evening twilight. However, no fear..there will be a live webcast of the event...

Fantastic, there's also the brilliant Astro-adventures in Devon but this place looks even better! Nice to see these places popping up.
