Asteroid 7 Iris

Wednesday 4th Sep 2013. 2155-2245BST. Use 102F5 x25 to find Iris as 'bright' but rather low in the south. Last seen some years ago. To the right of beta Aquarii there is a fainter "Sagitta" shaped asterism of 5 stars. Iris was paired with one of these. Currently similar in brightness to Bamberga. Iris is apparently further away but has much higher albedo than the closer, dull Bamberga. regards maf
Friday 6th Sep 2013: 2150BST. Good transparency until clouded out at 2200BST. Located 7 Iris in MAK70 x25. Motion from previous position obvious. maf
