First Perseid?

Post by RMSteele »

I think I saw my first Perseid meteor of the season last night (Aug 04 at about 21.20 UT). About to start with a brightness estimate of Beta Lyrae, a meteor caught my eye as it moved through Aquila, approximately mag -2 and, unusually, reddish in colour. Mentally plotting the track it seemed right for a Perseid. Regards, Bob

Just to add to this: this morning (Monday) at about 3.35-ish when returning to bed after doing some observing, I glanced out of the bedroom window and a bright meteor ( quite probably my first Perseid) dropped brightly down below Auriga. Regards maf.
