Mira bright - wonderful!

Post by mike a feist »

Tuesday, 22/10/19, 0450-0500 BST. Having made yet another sighting of Uranus (obs.#1443), using handheld 8x36 Nikon binoculars, I then picked out Mira (Omicron Ceti) which is nearby...and very bright it was too! Worth a look.
Tuesday, 22/10/19, 2135-2144 BST. Before bed using 8x36 binocular through the bedroom window and then from the bed & pillow ...now that is comfortable observing. Mira bright, probably not quite as bright as Menkar (alpha Ceti ). Alpha and Delta just nicely fit the binocular fov, Delta and Omicron being slightly closer together.
Tuesday, 22/10/19, 2325-2330 BST. Awoke just before midnight, and had an even better ( if less comfortable!) view of Mira and the surrounding stars as now much higher in the sky.
