"Out of the Shadows" (by Anil Ananthaswany) in "New Scientist 18th June, suggests we might avoid any need for that weird Dark Energy, simply by accepting that we live in a curvy cosmos. Apparently a so-called "backreaction" effect between matter and space time, may be all that is needed. Dark Energy may simply be an illusion created by our cosmological model.
