Our "alien" atoms

Post by brian livesey »

A research team has come to the conclusion that all of us contain alien atoms from distant galaxies. Astrophysicists claim to have discovered that up to half of the Milky way once belonged to other galaxies. This is hardly surprising, seeing that even now our galaxy is busy cannibalising dwarf galaxies.
The difference being that the researchers have gone back much further in time to the galaxy-hopping material. The leader of the research team, Dr. Daniel Angles-Alcazar from Northwestern University in America, said:-
"Given how much of the matter out of which we formed may have come from other galaxies, we could consider ourselves space travellers or extra-galactic immigrants. It is likely that much of the
Milky Way's matter was in other galaxies before it was kicked out by a powerful wind, travelled across intergalactic space and eventually found a new home."
A case of reverse colonisation to those who want to boldly go? The results of the research are published in the journal "Monthly Notices of the Royal Astronomical Society".
