The limit to look back time ..

Post by brian livesey »

At a time when astronomical instrumentation gets bigger and more sensitive to take us further back to the creation of the universe, how far back can we ultimately go?
Would we see the flash of the Big Bang itself? Was there a "flash"? If the universe began with cold hydrogen, how could it begin with a visible flash, at least until it had heated under gravity to a point where the first light appeared? And what was a Planck fluctuation that was supposed to have kick-started the universe? There are lots of astrophysical questions that the layperson finds puzzling and fascinating.
