A team of International scientists have revealed more evidence that Earth’s water may be older than the Sun. They used ground-based telescopes to analyse the chemical composition of the young star V883 Orionis.
The research team found the chemical signatures of heavy water in the disc of gas and dust surrounding the star.
The research, published in NATURE, indicates that V833 Orionis could be the “missing link” astrophysicists have been searching for to better understand how the solar system acquired its water.

Re: Origin of Earth’s water
Very interesting, Brian. It's quite a mind-expanding concept to try and understand really.
Best wishes, Jeff.

Re: Origin of Earth’s water
A team of researchers at the University of Maryland have concluded that Earth’s water didn’t come from melted meteorites, as was previously thought. The 4.5 billion year old meteorites they studied have very low water content.
